Poland has warned Russia of consequences should it attack diplomatic missions in Kyiv
This is stated in an official statement from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Since Russia, as it itself claims, is not waging a war but is conducting a so-called ‘special military operation’, which, by design, is supposed to be limited to military targets, any attacks on other infrastructure, in particular on diplomatic missions, must be regarded as unfriendly acts,” the statement reads.
The ministry noted that it regards any attacks on Ukraine, particularly on facilities and the civilian population, as acts of unjustified aggression causing enormous human and infrastructural losses.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasised that Russia’s actions entail serious consequences under international law, once again discrediting the country’s role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“We call on Russia to immediately cease its unjustified and illegal aggression and to comply with its international obligations and treaties,” the Polish Foreign Ministry urged.
As a reminder, Russia had previously threatened a series of strikes on Kyiv and urged foreigners to leave the city. The ISW explained why this is not a response to Ukraine’s actions, but rather a result of the Kremlin’s own failures.
