The Council has allowed wounded veterans to join the police without physical tests

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law allowing Ukrainians who were wounded while defending Ukraine to join the police force without undergoing physical fitness tests.

This was reported by The Public with reference to a parliamentary session, as reported by UNN.

The bill was supported by 253 MPs and was adopted in principle and in its entirety.

According to the document, Ukrainian citizens who have served in the internal affairs agencies, the National Police, the State Emergency Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, and who have suffered wounds, concussions, injuries or disabilities while performing tasks to protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In particular, this applies to persons who participated in anti-terrorist operations, measures to ensure national security and defence, repelling and deterring Russia's armed aggression, as well as other measures related to ensuring the defence of Ukraine.

The list of police positions to which this provision will apply will be determined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
