Russian troops launched a drone strike on a civilian passenger train travelling from Barvinkove to Lviv Chop in the Kharkiv region. The attack caused a fire in the carriage, injuring passengers.

The Russian army struck the Barvinkove-Lviv-Chop passenger train in the Kharkiv region with attack drones. According to preliminary data, the enemy used three Shahed-type drones. One of them exploded in front of the locomotive, another hit a passenger car directly, causing a fire. This was reported on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

At the time of the attack, there were 291 passengers on the train. All people were promptly evacuated by railway workers and emergency services. Two passengers were injured and were taken out by the train crew and handed over to ambulance medics. The victims were hospitalised, and their condition is being assessed.

Ukrzaliznytsia organised reserve buses for the evacuated passengers. Separate transport is also being prepared for people who were waiting for return trains at stations along the route. Rescuers, medics, law enforcement officers and railway services are working at the scene to coordinate assistance and ensure safety.

Ukrzaliznytsia emphasised that the attack on the passenger train had no military purpose and was a direct act of terror against the civilian population.
