Russian troops attacked several regions of Ukraine overnight; there are casualties

On the night of 2 June, Russian forces launched strikes on several regions of Ukraine. The attacks have resulted in casualties, injuries and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Kharkiv Region

Russian troops launched a combined strike overnight on Kharkiv, as well as the Barvinkivka, Donetsk, Merefa and Vysochansk communities in the region.

The shelling resulted in eight fires. Residential buildings, farm buildings, garages, cars and other civilian objects were on fire. Multi-storey and private residential buildings were also damaged.

According to preliminary data, 14 people were injured, including one child.

Units from the State Emergency Service, the National Police, medics, volunteers and utility services were working at the scenes.

Zaporizhzhia region

Overnight, Russian forces fired six missiles at Zaporizhzhia.

According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration, three people were injured as a result of the attacks on Zaporizhzhia, Vilniansk and the Polohivskyi district.

Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 890 strikes on 44 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. There were 87 reports of damage to infrastructure, residential buildings and vehicles.

Kherson region

Over the past 24 hours, one person was killed and 16 others were injured as a result of Russian strikes in the Kherson region.

Three high-rise buildings, 14 private homes, a shop, a gas pipeline, a bus and private cars were damaged.

Kyiv region

In the Kyiv region, rescue workers are dealing with the aftermath of missile and drone strikes. Falling debris and direct hits caused fires in residential areas and at civilian infrastructure sites. One person is known to have been injured.

In the Bucha district, a fire was extinguished in a townhouse with an area of approximately 100 square metres. Cars on the premises of a logistics facility were also damaged.

In Sofiivska Borshchahivka, a fire broke out in a two-storey warehouse building covering 500 square metres. Debris also damaged private residential buildings.

In the village of Kryukivshchyna, a three-storey disused building caught fire. The fire covered an area of 225 square metres.

In the Fastiv district, private residential houses caught fire. Rescue workers are continuing to deal with the aftermath.

In the Vyshhorod district, grass cover caught fire after debris from a drone fell in an open area.

Work to deal with the aftermath of the attacks is ongoing. Information regarding casualties is being verified.
