‘Madyar’ explained why Ukraine is not currently carrying out strikes on the Crimean Bridge
According to him, the main objective at present is not to destroy the bridge, but to cut off the occupied Crimea from supplies, thereby making it impossible for Russian troops to remain on the peninsula.
“We are currently blocking the routes into the peninsula, not out of it. We are leaving the Crimean Bridge untouched. Let them drive away across it,” Brovdi said in an interview with British journalist Kaolan Robertson.
According to ‘Madyar’, Crimea is critically dependent on fuel supplies, as it cannot provide itself with the necessary resources. That is precisely why the Ukrainian Defence Forces have focused on destroying the logistics network: fuel infrastructure, tankers, crossings, energy facilities and supply routes.
The commander emphasised that Ukraine wants to create conditions under which the Russian military machine will no longer be able to operate on the peninsula, and all Russians who moved to occupied Crimea after 2014 will be able to leave via the Kerch Bridge.
At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities are urging Crimea’s civilian population to prepare for the forthcoming de-occupation. The Centre for Strategic Communications has published a special guide entitled ‘Guide.Crimea’, in which it recommends preparing documents, a supply of water, food and medicines in advance, agreeing on a plan of action with family members in the event of hostilities, and following only official information from the Ukrainian authorities.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has significantly stepped up its campaign to isolate the peninsula. Energy infrastructure, fuel facilities, ports, military logistics routes and the so-called ‘shadow fleet’ of the Russian Federation, which supplies fuel to occupied Crimea, have come under attack.
