Russian troops have attacked Kyiv and a number of regions in Ukraine

During the night and early morning of 15 May, Russian forces attacked the regions of Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Sumy. The attacks have resulted in casualties, injuries and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Kyiv

An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv on the morning of 15 May following an attack by strike drones.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that air defence forces were operating in the Obolon district of the capital.

The Ukrainian Air Force had warned of attack drones heading towards Kyiv.

Zaporizhzhia region

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past 24 hours, Russian troops had carried out 772 strikes on 44 settlements in the region.

One person was killed as a result of an attack on the Polohivskyi district.

There were also 80 reports of damage to homes, vehicles and infrastructure.

In the morning, a Russian drone attacked a transport infrastructure facility in Vilniansk near Zaporizhzhia.

An 88-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man were injured.

In addition, Russian forces struck a commuter train in the Zaporizhzhia region with a drone.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the strike hit near one of the carriages.

Following a warning of an air threat, the train was stopped and the evacuation of passengers began.

According to preliminary information, two passengers who did not manage to evacuate sustained shrapnel wounds.

Odesa region

Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that the Russian army attacked the Odesa region with drones and missiles during the night.

Residential areas, businesses and critical infrastructure were hit.

Two people were injured as a result of the attack.

Four private houses, a non-residential building, technical structures, utility and administrative buildings, as well as cars, were damaged.

The strikes caused several fires, which were extinguished by emergency services.

Kharkiv region

Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past 24 hours, Russian troops had attacked Kharkiv and five settlements in the region.

Thirty-nine people were injured in the strikes, including nine children.

The Russian military used four guided aerial bombs and 13 drones of the ‘Geran-2’, ‘Molniya’ and FPV types in the attacks.

In Kharkiv, three apartment blocks, six cars, three catering establishments, a kiosk and a public transport stop were damaged.

In Katerynivka, Lozova district, women aged 19, 21 and 66 were injured.

In the Bohodukhiv district, private homes, a farm building and an educational institution were damaged.

In the Kupianskyi district, a warehouse was damaged, and in the Chuhuiv district – private homes, a garage, a fence and power lines.

Dnipropetrovsk region

Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that Russian forces had attacked the region with drones nearly 20 times.

The communities of Nikopol, Marganetsk and Pokrovsk were targeted.

An administrative building and two ambulances were damaged.

In the Pavlohrad district, nine private homes, garages, outbuildings and a car were damaged.

Kherson region

The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that Russian troops had attacked 42 settlements in the region using drones, artillery and aircraft.

Two people were killed in the shelling, and a further 13, including a child, were injured.

A multi-storey building, seven private homes, a shop, a gas pipeline and cars were damaged.

Three people were evacuated from the liberated communities in the region.

Sumy region

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that Russian troops carried out over 40 strikes on 19 settlements in 10 communities in the region over the past 24 hours.

Two people, including a teenager, were injured in the attacks.

Seventeen people were also evacuated from border communities.
