Since the start of 2026, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has contracted the supply of over 22,000 ground-based robotic systems (GRS) for the Defence Forces. This figure is almost double the volume of procurements for the whole of 2025.

This has been reported by the Ministry of Defence’s press office.

The ministry notes that the procurement process is ongoing, and the Defence Procurement Agency plans to purchase more systems by the end of the year.

All the UAVs ordered are of Ukrainian manufacture. The majority are logistics drones, followed by engineering and combat platforms.

“They will deliver ammunition and supplies, evacuate the wounded and fallen, and carry out reconnaissance and strike operations,” the statement reads.

Thousands of drones have already been handed over to units on the front line. In particular, the military independently selected 2,069 systems using budget funds via the state-run weapons marketplace DOT-Chain Defence, the ministry added.
