The US used Ukrainian drone attack tactics during its operation against Iran
During the military operation against Iran called "Epic Fury," which began on 28 February, American forces used for the first time the tactic of deploying inexpensive, single-use strike drones, which had previously been implemented by the Ukrainian Defence Forces. This was reported by Politico.
A statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that high-precision munitions were used from the air, land and sea in the first hours of the operation. In addition, the Scorpion Strike task force used inexpensive disposable strike drones for the first time in combat conditions.
Journalists recall that the Ukrainian military began to actively use such tactics after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. The use of inexpensive drones allowed Ukraine to compensate for the enemy's superiority in personnel and firepower. This practice was later adopted by Russian forces, which significantly influenced modern approaches to warfare.
On 28 February 2026, the United States and Israel launched a coordinated military campaign against Iran. The American side called the operation "Epic Fury," while the Israeli side called it "Lion's Roar."
The first strikes targeted government and military facilities in Tehran, including the headquarters of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the parliament building, judicial institutions, intelligence services, and facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In response, Iran launched ballistic and cruise missiles at US military bases in the Middle East — in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — as well as at military and security facilities in Israel.
According to reports, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and members of his family were killed in the strikes on Tehran.
