The court has issued a verdict in the case of the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl
A brutal crime shook the small town of Shpola (Cherkasy region) a year ago. A fourth-grade student left home for a store and did not return. The next day, law enforcement officers found the child's body and arrested the suspect.
The 33-year-old man lived in a neighboring town and led an amateur ensemble. The media reported that he was a teacher by education and had a daughter who lived with his ex-wife.
The charges proved that the man committed sexual acts against the girl and, to conceal the crime, took her life. The police also found child pornography on his phone and laptop.
The father of the murdered girl said that the defendant denied almost all the accusations: "He simulated, told that he was mentally ill, justified everything with memory lapses...".
The man was sentenced to life imprisonment, reports BBC.
