The average pension in Ukraine has risen to 7,273 UAH, but a quarter of pensioners receive less than 4,000 UAH — ‘OpenDataBot’
This was reported by the government data analysis service ‘OpenDataBot’.
Almost a third of all pensioners receive a pension higher than the national average: 3.2 million people receive more than 7,000 hryvnias. Of these, half a million receive more than 20,000 hryvnias.
At the same time, one in four pensioners receives around 3,500 hryvnias.
Pensioners in seven regions receive pensions higher than the average. The highest are in the capital: 9,901 hryvnias (36 per cent above the average). The average pension in Donetsk Oblast is 8,990 hryvnias (24 per cent higher), and in Luhansk Oblast — 8,752 hryvnias (20 per cent higher).
However, there are also regions where payments are below the average. The pension in Ternopil Oblast is 5,657 hryvnias — 22 per cent below the average. Payments are 20 per cent lower in Chernivtsi Oblast (5,839 UAH) and 19 per cent lower in Zakarpattia Oblast (5,918 UAH).
One in four pensioners continues to work — 2.8 million people (28 per cent). Their average pension is 7,994 UAH.
According to the Pension Fund, the minimum pension in Ukraine is 2,595 UAH. This amount is equal to the subsistence minimum for people who have lost their ability to work, and is paid provided they have a full insurance record — 30 years for women and 35 years for men.
