The Czech Republic has stated that it is necessary to prepare for the threat posed by Russia
This is according to CZ Defence.
Russia has been named the main threat to Europe
Rzhegka stressed that Russia remains the greatest security challenge for European states. At the same time, he emphasised that he was not suggesting that war was inevitable or that an attack was likely in the near future. According to the general, the army’s main task is to be prepared for the worst-case scenario so that it never becomes a reality. He warned that Moscow might mistakenly perceive Europe as weak and unprepared for a protracted confrontation. That is precisely why NATO countries must demonstrate their readiness to defend their citizens and territories.
The war in Ukraine has forced Europe to review its defence policy
Karel Řehka noted that Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has served as a serious wake-up call for European nations. In recent years, many states have increased their defence budgets, stepped up arms procurement and revised their approaches to reserve training. In his view, modern warfare requires significant stocks of ammunition, air defence systems, drones, armoured vehicles and well-organised logistics. The general also emphasised that support for Ukraine is vital for the security of the whole of Europe. According to him, the Ukrainian army is holding back Russian aggression and giving allies time to strengthen their own defence capabilities.
