The mobilisation crisis is mounting for Putin; Russia is seeking new solutions – GUR
This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, whilst speaking to journalists at the international forum ‘Security Architecture’.
According to him, the recruitment campaign and mobilisation efforts in the Russian Federation have been ongoing continuously since the start of the full-scale invasion and have not ceased to this day.
“Recruitment efforts and mobilisation measures in the Russian Federation have not stopped throughout the entire period of the full-scale invasion and are continuing now. Alongside attempts to recruit foreign mercenaries, Russia is also trying to step up its efforts in this direction,” said Yusov.
He noted that the need to recruit new personnel is primarily linked to the need to make up for losses on the front line.
"Why do they need new people? It’s logical – losses must be compensated for. The scale of recruitment barely covers the losses on the battlefield," explained the GUR representative.
According to Yusov, for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the occupying army, the manpower issue is becoming an increasingly serious challenge.
“Undoubtedly, this presents additional challenges for Putin and the occupying army, and they are seeking a solution to this problem. It is no longer enough simply to mobilise so-called ‘convicts’ and ‘those with alimony obligations’. This crisis is mounting for Putin, and it is clear that they will take further measures,” he added.
