Fraudsters are sending out messages that appear to be official correspondence from the NBU. Downloading attachments containing phishing software could give hackers full access to the user’s devices.

The National Bank’s press service has warned of this scam.

“Criminals are sending emails from various email addresses, purportedly on behalf of the National Bank of Ukraine. The layout of the email resembles the design of the NBU’s official website,” the statement reads.

The National Bank urges people not to click on the link contained in the email, and certainly not to download the ‘archive containing a list of documents’.

“In reality, the archive contains malware designed to gain remote access to your computer,” the NBU warned.

The statement emphasised that NBU staff use only official corporate email addresses containing the @bank.gov.ua domain for electronic correspondence

As a reminder, it was previously reported that fraudsters are making widespread use of AI to make fake calls to Ukrainians.
