Russian invaders attacked an ‘Epicentre’ shopping centre in the city of Sumy, resulting in its destruction.

This has been reported by Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and the press office of ‘Epicentre’.

According to Kryvosheyenko, since the start of the day, the enemy has carried out a massive attack using FPV and ‘Molniya’ drones on one of the densely populated residential areas in the Zarichny district of Sumy. There are casualties among the residents of the high-rise blocks, including four children.

The ‘Epicentre’ shopping centre caught fire as a result of being hit. Rescue operations were hampered by the ongoing threat of further strikes.

Overall, the attack in Sumy damaged residential buildings, the infrastructure of a petrol station and private cars, and a State Emergency Service vehicle was burnt out.

The ‘Epicentre’ shopping centre in Sumy, with a total area of over 23,000 square metres, had been operating since 1 November 2014.

The company’s press office reported that, since the start of the full-scale invasion, nine of the chain’s shopping centres in various regions of Ukraine have been completely destroyed, whilst 14 of the company’s shopping centres have been damaged. One further facility remains in the temporarily occupied territory. In addition, a logistics hub in the Kyiv region has been destroyed.
