The SSU and the National Police have detained a further four people involved in the attack on military personnel and law enforcement officers in Lviv
The Security Service of Ukraine, in conjunction with the National Police, has detained a further four individuals involved in the attack on military personnel and law enforcement officers that took place on 8 July in Lviv.
According to the investigation, those detained include a 21-year-old and a 45-year-old resident of Lviv, as well as two 28-year-old military personnel. One of them, according to the case file, had left his military unit without authorisation.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that the detainees were the most active participants in the incident. According to the investigation, they blocked the path of the military personnel’s service vehicle, jumped onto it and damaged the vehicle.
The detainees are currently being served with notices of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning the obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a state of emergency. One of the detainees is also charged under Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for unauthorised absence from a military unit or place of service.
The incident took place on Chervona Kalyna Avenue in Lviv whilst the military and police were conducting public awareness operations.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police reported the detention of one of the rioters, who is suspected of assaulting a police officer and causing him bodily harm.
Law enforcement officials note that investigative and operational measures are ongoing. Their aim is to identify and bring to justice all those involved in the attack.
Comprehensive measures are being carried out by SBU officers in the Lviv region in conjunction with the National Police, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
