The UK government will urge the public to stock up on food and water due to cyberattacks by the Russian Federation
The Telegraph reports this.
According to the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Darren Jones, as part of the campaign, members of the public will be advised on how to prepare, for example, a cyberattack that could cut off access to electricity, water supplies or mobile networks, or lead to the closure of food shops.
In addition, officials are drawing up new guidelines for schools and colleges to teach children safety rules during emergencies.
“The government will do everything it can, and we are well prepared, but each of us can play our part in protecting ourselves and our loved ones. Being prepared means that the emergency services will be able to focus on helping the most vulnerable,” explained Jones.
The publication also reports that government exercises are planned for next year to practise responding to a ‘hybrid’ attack by a foreign country.
Meanwhile, according to journalists, for the first time in two decades, the UK is updating its classified contingency plans in the event of a direct attack on the country, which include moving ministers to nuclear bunkers.
