The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine
On 16 July, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Resolution No. 15414 appointing Serhiy Koretskyi as Prime Minister of Ukraine.
The resolution was passed by 289 members of parliament.
The proposal to appoint Serhiy Koretskyi as head of government was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, late in the evening on 15 July.
Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, announced that parliament would consider the nomination in accordance with established procedure. Halyna Mykhailiuk, the President’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, was authorised to present it at the plenary session.
Serhiy Koretskyi previously headed the state-owned company Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to media reports, between 2022 and 2025 he also managed the companies ‘Ukrnafta’ and ‘Ukrtatnafta’, whose shares were transferred to state ownership.
Before working in the public sector, Serhiy Koretskyy was involved in business.
