Tragedy in Poland: a Ukrainian man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a fellow countryman
On the night of 1 May, the body of a 35-year-old Ukrainian national was found on a street in a town in Poland. The man was lying on the pavement in a pool of blood. The suspect in the murder is also a Ukrainian national

According to TVP Info, the police received a call at around 11.30 pm. Patrol officers and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene immediately, but the medics could only confirm that the man had died. The victim was a 35-year-old Ukrainian national, a resident of the Jarocin district.

Swift arrest: what is known about the suspect

The Polish police acted professionally and swiftly. That very night, law enforcement officers arrested a suspect in connection with the murder. He turned out to be a 21-year-old Ukrainian man who also lived in the area. Medical staff and investigators noted a deep wound on the victim, inflicted by a sharp object. CCTV footage and the meticulous work of forensic experts at the scene of the tragedy helped track down the perpetrator. Police spokeswoman Agnieszka Zaworska confirmed that the 21-year-old suspect was sober at the time of his arrest.

Progress of the investigation

Despite the arrest, as of the afternoon of Saturday, no formal charges had yet been brought against the young man. Interrogations are currently ongoing and the motives behind the act are being established. The police are attempting to ascertain the nature of the relationship between the men and what exactly triggered the aggression that led to the fatal outcome. The body of the deceased 35-year-old Ukrainian has been sent for a forensic medical examination to definitively establish the circumstances of his death. The case is under the special supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
