Trump will sue BBC despite the company's apology
U.S. President Donald Trump will sue the BBC even though the corporation apologized for editing his speech. This was reported by BBC.
During a press interaction, journalists again raised the issue of the BBC scandal (regarding the edited Trump speech, which gave the impression that he was calling to seize the U.S. Congress in 2021).
In particular, Trump praised a representative of The Telegraph for exposing the situation with the BBC documentary, adding that the newspaper's journalists did a great service.
"You have done a great service to many countries, many good people... by exposing what fake news is. What the BBC did — no one would have even thought that such a thing was possible. They literally changed the words coming out of my mouth," - said the U.S. president.
Afterward, journalists who spoke with Trump noted that the BBC apologized days ago for the mistake but refused to pay him compensation. For this reason, the White House chief was asked if apologies were enough, to which Trump still announced his intention to sue.
"We will sue them for an amount ranging from 1 to 5 billion dollars, probably next week... I think I will have to take legal action. If not, this will not stop others from doing the same," - stated the U.S. leader.
