Trilateral talks with Russia have been postponed: Zelenskyy cites an unexpected reason
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The schedule of diplomatic meetings has been affected by developments on the international stage. In particular, Washington has temporarily shifted its focus to events in Iran.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, made this statement in an interview with the Italian broadcaster Rai Radio.

Why has dialogue with Russia stalled?

According to the head of state, the schedule of diplomatic meetings was influenced by the situation on the international stage. In particular, Washington shifted its attention to events in Iran for a time.

“The United States was focused on the Middle East,” explained Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It was for this reason that the trilateral talks with Russia were postponed.

The President assured that this process has not been halted permanently.

“But we will start from the beginning…,” he emphasised.

Arms and the energy situation

Aside from diplomatic issues, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of uninterrupted military support. He noted that the front line requires constant replenishment of resources, so the supply of equipment must not cease.

The President also responded to the latest news regarding the stabilisation of the situation in Iran. In the Ukrainian leader’s view, achieving peace in that country is a positive signal for the whole world.

While diplomacy is on hold, Russia is preparing new offensives. Zelenskyy believes that Putin will attempt not only to seize Donbas but also to advance into southern Ukraine. The enemy seeks to gain full control over these territories.

The head of state also noted that Russia is helping Iran, whilst the US simply ignores all evidence of this. According to Zelenskyy, the US trusts Putin, and that is a problem.
