Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia have launched the ‘Rail Silk Road’
This was reported by the DHA news agency.
“The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line is one of the most important transport investments realised through the joint efforts of the three countries. Since 2017, it has made a significant contribution to the development of the Middle Corridor and played an important role in strengthening connections between Asia and Europe,” said Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, at the opening ceremony held on Tuesday in Akhalkalaki, Georgia.
The minister emphasised that modern international trade requires not only new routes but also reliable transport corridors.
“Disruptions in supply chains and the vulnerability of international trade networks have shown us an important reality. Corridors that were considered alternatives in the event of crises are, in fact, the safety net of global trade,” the minister noted.
According to Uraloğlu, the effectiveness of the Middle Corridor will be determined not only by the volume of investment in infrastructure, but also by the quality of services and the reliability of transport.
“Today, the world assesses not the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, but its efficiency. Our success will be measured not by the number of kilometres built, but by the quality of services, transit times and user confidence,” he said.
The Turkish Minister of Transport described the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line as one of the key elements of the global transport network.
