In Luhansk, the occupying authorities may seize nearly 8,000 flats
In the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk, Russian invaders have declared nearly 8,000 flats to be ownerless. Such properties are subject to the so-called nationalisation procedure, according to Ukrinform.
According to the Luhansk Regional State Administration, under new regulations that came into force in March, a property is considered abandoned if there is no record of it in the so-called state register. Owners are given 30 days to resolve this issue.
An apartment may also be seized in the event of non-payment of utility bills for a year or if the property has been unoccupied for three consecutive months.
Furthermore, the regional administration reported that around 700 monuments dedicated to the Second World War are in a state of disrepair within the territory of the so-called LPR. They are classified as cultural heritage sites, yet no funds for their restoration have been allocated either in local budgets or in previous years.
