On the evening of 7 May, an explosion occurred at the offices of the D66 political party, led by Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. An event was taking place there at the time. No one was injured, and a suspect has already been arrested.

This is reported by NOS.

The explosion occurred at around 9 pm. At the time, there were around 30 people inside the headquarters: an event organised by the party’s youth wing was taking place there. No one was injured; those present were led out via an emergency exit into the garden.

The police arrested a suspect within an hour. A party spokesperson said that a firecracker had been thrown through the letterbox.

The explosion shattered the glass in the upper part of the door. There was also significant smoke in the building.

Rob Jetten called it a “cowardly act of intimidation”. “To those who think they can scare us, I have this message: in the democratic Netherlands, we will never allow violence to silence us,” he wrote on social media.
