Drones attacked an industrial facility in Perm; a fire was reported
On the morning of 7 May, drones attacked an industrial facility in Russia’s Perm Krai. This was reported by the region’s governor.
According to him, one drone managed to reach its target, while several others were shot down as they approached. A drone threat alert is in force in the region.
Eyewitnesses have shared videos showing a thick column of black smoke rising above the facility. According to analysis of open sources, the Lukoil-Permnaftorgsintez oil refinery may have been hit.
There are also reports of a possible strike on the ‘Perm’ production and dispatch station of the ‘Transneft’ system. According to preliminary information, pressure relief operations may have been carried out at the facility following the incident.
According to Russian authorities, the strike targeted one of the region’s industrial facilities, without specifying its name. However, a number of sources point specifically to ‘Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez’, which is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia.
The facility had already been targeted by drones at the end of April. There have also been previous reports of strikes on oil infrastructure facilities in the region.
Robert Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed the strike on an oil facility in Perm. According to him, the attack took place during the night of 6–7 May.
