A shooting took place at the Svitlovodsk City Council building on 12 May. According to the city council, the weapon was used by the first deputy mayor, Serhiy Savych.

Svitlovodsk City Council has reported that the shooting took place in the executive committee building, where staff and members of the public were present at the time.

According to the city council, the first deputy mayor, Serhiy Savych, opened fire inside the building. As a result of the incident, one person was injured by a non-lethal weapon.

The victim is receiving the necessary medical attention.

The city council also stated that prior to the incident, Serhiy Savych had been behaving aggressively throughout the day, making threats and using foul language towards the secretary of the Svitlovodsk City Council, Maksym Bakumenko.

The police and an ambulance were called to the scene. Law enforcement officers are carrying out the arrest and urgent investigative measures.
