A Ukrainian Magura V5 marine drone has been spotted in Greek territorial waters
A Ukrainian Magura V5 marine drone has been discovered off the coast of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea. According to preliminary reports, the drone was equipped with detonators, but contained no explosives.
This is according to the Greek newspaper eKathimerini.
The Greek authorities have several theories, including that the drone may have been used by smugglers or intended for use in combating Russia’s shadow fleet.
An investigation has been launched in Greece.
What is known about the Magura V5 drone
The MAGURA V5 is a multi-purpose maritime unmanned aerial vehicle. The drone is capable of conducting reconnaissance, patrolling, search and rescue operations, mine countermeasures, naval fleet protection and combat missions.
It is 5.5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide. Its maximum speed exceeds 77 km/h. The drone can carry a payload of up to 320 kg and operate within a range of 830 kilometres.
