A 21-year-old suspect in a double bomb attack has been arrested in Bucha
This was reported by the National Police.
Law enforcement officers have notified a 21-year-old suspect of their suspicion in connection with the double terrorist attack in Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, which took place on 23 March.
The National Police stated that the day before, police officers, together with SBU staff, had detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the suspect said that he had met his handler from the Russian Federation in an online game. Subsequently, according to law enforcement, the handler suggested he carry out bombings in the region and provided step-by-step instructions on how to make explosive devices.
Investigators claim that the suspect was promised a reward of 25,000 hryvnias for each ‘task’ completed.
In connection with this, investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine informed the man that he was suspected of an offence under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act.
The report also notes that on 23 March, an unknown object exploded in Bucha near a block of flats. Shortly afterwards, as police and emergency services arrived at the scene, another unknown device exploded nearby.
Two law enforcement officers were injured in the second explosion. They were hospitalised.
The Kyiv Regional Police had previously stated that this was a terrorist attack. According to the Regional State Administration, the condition of the injured officers was assessed as moderate, and their lives are not in danger.
