Law enforcers are checking the teaching of children using Soviet textbooks and sources of funding.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched in Kyiv over the facts published by Slidstvo.info journalists regarding the activities of an underground educational institution on the territory of a monastery in Holosiivskyi district of the capital

Investigators of the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors opened a criminal proceeding under part one of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The basis for the investigation was information that children in the underground school were taught using Soviet textbooks and involved in the performance of Soviet songs

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the establishment and operation of this institution, finding out whether children attended official state schools, and checking the sources of funding for the underground school

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The prosecutor's office emphasises that the legal assessment of the actions of the persons involved will be provided based on the results of investigative actions in compliance with the principle of the presumption of innocence
