A suspicious object was found in a cup near a rubbish bin on Volodymyr Velykyi Street. Explosives experts confirmed that it was a live grenade.

On the morning of 28 February, a combat grenade was found in Lviv on Volodymyr Velykyi Street near a container site for rubbish. This was reported by Mayor Andrii Sadovyi in a telegram.

According to him, a janitor noticed a suspicious object and immediately contacted the relevant services. The area was quickly cordoned off, after which bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene. Experts confirmed that the object found was a real grenade, which was subsequently defused.

The Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region specified that it was a foreign-made hand grenade left in a cup near a rubbish bin.

Explosives experts, dog handlers, criminal investigation operatives and employees of other police departments worked at the scene.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the identity of the person involved in leaving the ammunition. The issue of entering the relevant information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is currently being decided.
