A police officer was killed and 24 people were injured in explosions in Lviv
At around 00:30, the 102 emergency hotline received a report of a break-in at a shop on Danilyshyn Street, 20 in Lviv. After the patrol police crew arrived at the scene, an explosion occurred. When the second crew arrived, another explosion occurred. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
It has been preliminarily established that homemade explosive devices detonated. A 23-year-old policewoman was killed in the explosions. A patrol police car and a civilian vehicle were damaged.
According to the Lviv Regional Police, 24 people were injured. The victims are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
An investigative team, bomb disposal experts and other specialised services worked at the scene. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for a terrorist act that caused serious consequences. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the crime.
