An unknown person in Minnesota launched a hunt for Democrats
Hoffmann and his wife Yvette were operated on, both sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Both attacks occurred within a few miles of each other. The attacker was dressed as a police officer, carrying a badge, a stun gun, and other special equipment. The police nearly detained him as he was leaving the Gortman house, but the attacker managed to escape.
In a vehicle disguised as a police car, law enforcement officers found a list with dozens of data on state Democrats. Besides Gortman and Hoffmann, it included, in particular, Governor Tim Volz.
The motives of the attacker are currently being clarified. Governor Volz called the attacks on Gortman and Hoffmann "targeted political violence." The shooting in Minnesota was condemned by U.S. President Donald Trump and House Speaker Republican Mike Johnson.
