In Poltava, 16-year-old teenagers were planning to blow up a Ukrainian military vehicle
In Poltava, minors have been caught preparing to blow up a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle on behalf of Russians.
This was reported by the SBU.
The perpetrators had manufactured a homemade explosive device intended to be planted under a military vehicle.
Russian intelligence officers then planned to remotely detonate the bomb as Ukrainian soldiers approached the booby-trapped vehicle.
SBU officers uncovered the hostile intentions in time and detained the agents in a hotel room where they were assembling the bomb.
It turned out that the order from the Russian Federation was being carried out by two 16-year-old local residents.
They had received instructions from a Russian handler on how to make a homemade bomb using improvised materials.
The next step was for the suspects to identify the parking location of the military vehicle and coordinate this with a Russian intelligence officer.
During searches of the detainees, an explosive device prepared for the attack and smartphones containing evidence of the crimes were seized.
The suspects face up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
