Wrocław marked Ukrainian Unity Day with a joint prayer and commemoration of the fallen
Commemorative and spiritual events were held in Wrocław on the occasion of Ukrainian Unity Day, with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission and the city community. On 22 January, Ukrainians commemorated the anniversary of the proclamation of the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic, which in 1919 cemented the people's desire for unity and independence.
The Greek Catholic parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Wrocław held a Divine Liturgy for Ukraine and a memorial service for all those who died fighting for the freedom and territorial integrity of the state, from past generations to the present day. The service was led by Bishop Volodymyr Yushchak and Bishop Mariusz Dmiterko. This was reported by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław.
The service was attended by Diana Ivanova, Acting Consul General of Ukraine in Wrocław, Vice-Consul Snizhana Saychenko, and representatives of the Ukrainian community.
After the events at the Consulate General, Diana Ivanova congratulated Ukrainian citizens on the holiday, emphasising the importance of national unity in the face of modern challenges. She wished Ukrainians peace, endurance, unshakeable faith in victory, and the swiftest possible restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
The Consulate emphasised that Unity Day is a symbol of the shared responsibility of every Ukrainian for the future of the state and a reminder of the power of unity, which has been and remains the foundation of Ukraine's freedom.
