A report of shooting in the courtyard of one of the buildings on Hayova Street in Khmelnytskyi was received by the 102 hotline from local residents on 7 March at 22:20.
According to preliminary information, an unknown man fired shots at the courtyard of a high-rise building from the balcony of an apartment on the ninth floor.
The leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Khmelnytskyi region, an investigative team, a special KORD unit, and patrol police immediately arrived at the scene.
Law enforcement officers established that a resident of one of the flats, who is a military serviceman, opened fire from the balcony of his flat. He fired about 90 rounds from an automatic weapon.
During the police special operation, the man surrendered to law enforcement officers. According to the police, he was intoxicated.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This refers to hooliganism.
Investigators detained the man in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing. Police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the origin of the weapon.
