Ukraine and Denmark discussed a missile defence project and the procurement of drones
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence following a conversation between Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Denmark may expand its support for Ukrainian manufacturing
During the talks, the parties discussed the procurement of Ukrainian-made drones for the Ukrainian Defence Forces, in particular interceptor drones. Particular attention was paid to the further development of the so-called Danish model, which allows international partners to finance the production of weapons directly in Ukraine. According to Fedorov, thanks to this mechanism, since 2024 it has been possible to attract around three billion dollars for the production of Ukrainian weapons, including drones, electronic warfare equipment and missile systems. The parties also discussed the localisation of certain production facilities in Denmark and the prospects for implementing the Drone Deal framework, which is intended to simplify cooperation in the field of defence technologies and accelerate the launch of joint projects.
Ukraine invited Denmark to join an anti-ballistic project
The development of Ukraine’s air defence system was a separate topic of discussion. The Ukrainian side proposed that Denmark join a future anti-ballistic project. In particular, the discussion centred on Copenhagen’s possible participation in creating the necessary infrastructure and providing radar systems. In addition, the parties discussed support for scaling up the production of Ukrainian missiles and additional assistance ahead of the June meeting of the Contact Group on Defence Issues for Ukraine in the ‘Ramstein’ format. Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Denmark for its consistent support for Ukraine and emphasised the importance of further developing joint defence projects.
