Ukraine is developing low-cost missiles to protect critical infrastructure during the winter
He made these remarks during a meeting with journalists, according to reports by ‘Suspilne’ and ‘Censor.NET’.
According to Fedorov, these missiles are designed to shoot down Shahed drones, particularly jet-powered ones, and to protect critical infrastructure during the autumn and winter months. Solutions for this already exist and have begun to be tested.
Overall, Ukraine plans to scale up production of such low-cost missiles tenfold to build up the necessary stockpile. As part of this process, the state is providing grants, expanding production and relaunching recruitment drives.
Earlier, Fedorov announced the creation of Ukraine’s first indigenous guided aerial bomb. It has already passed the necessary tests and is ready for combat use. According to the minister, the Ukrainian guided aerial bomb has a unique design and was created with the realities of modern warfare in mind; its development took 17 months.
Business Insider has learned that the Ukrainian-developed guided bomb is called ‘Vyryvnyach’ and costs about a third of the price of the American JDAM-ER, which was previously used by the Ukrainian military.
As a reminder, the ISW previously explained why Russia has started nuclear exercises right now.
