The government is simplifying the entry procedure into Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories or from Russia for young people born after 24 August 1991.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

This project is experimental and will run for a year. Young people will be able to obtain the identity document required to return to Ukraine through designated diplomatic missions abroad.

The document can be issued using data from the State Register, and if the information is not available there, confirmation from close relatives will suffice, including via video link.

“This decision covers people who, due to the occupation, have found themselves without valid Ukrainian documents and have effectively lost the opportunity to return to Ukraine legally,” added Svyrydenko.

Abroad, this service will be free of charge and can be obtained in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and other countries designated by Ukraine. If the child is under 16, the application must be submitted by their parents or legal guardians.

Since March, 10 young men and women aged 18–19 have been returned from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
