Ukraine has come under attack from drones; there are casualties and damage

During the night of 7 May and throughout the following day, Russian forces carried out attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson and Donetsk regions. There have been casualties, injuries and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Dnipropetrovsk region

Two explosions were heard in Dnipro overnight during a drone attack. Prior to this, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of a group of UAVs moving towards the Dnipropetrovsk region.

In the city, apartment blocks, garages and cars were damaged. A flat caught fire in a five-storey building. Due to damage to the high-rise buildings, rescue workers evacuated 20 people to a safe place.

According to Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, two people were injured in Dnipro. They were a 21-year-old pregnant woman and a 45-year-old man. Both received medical treatment at the scene.

In total, since the evening, Russian troops have attacked five districts of the region nearly 30 times with artillery and drones. Four people were injured.

In the Nikopol district, the district centre, as well as the Marganetsk, Chervonohryhorivsk and Pokrovsk communities, came under attack. A supermarket, apartment blocks, a petrol station, a church and cars were damaged. A 60-year-old man who was injured will receive outpatient treatment.

In the Kam’yanske district, the Russians struck the Krynychanska community. Cars were damaged and a 43-year-old man was injured.

In the Synelnykivka district, the enemy attacked the Petropavlivka and Mezhivska communities. A car was damaged.

In the Pavlohrad district, strikes hit Pavlohrad and the Bohdanivska community. Infrastructure and a car were damaged.

In the Samarivskyi district, a fire at an infrastructure facility was extinguished. All fires following the attacks have been put out.

Zaporizhzhia region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 797 strikes on 50 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.

According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, two people were killed and 12 others were injured as a result of attacks on Zaporizhzhia, the Zaporizhzhia and Polohiv districts.

The authorities received 80 reports of damage to homes, vehicles and infrastructure.

Sumy region

In the Sumy region, four people were killed and 11 others were injured as a result of Russian strikes over the past 24 hours. Separately, a man was killed when he stepped on an enemy landmine.

Communities in the Sumy, Shostka, Okhtyrka and Konotop districts came under fire.

In the Sumy community, two women were killed and seven more people were injured. An apartment block, a medical facility, a nursery and a business were damaged.

One person was killed and another injured when a drone struck a car. In the Novoslobodsk community, a man was killed when a residential building was hit.

In the Popivka community, one person was injured, and storage facilities and agricultural machinery were damaged. In the Hlukhiv community, one person was injured and a car was damaged.

In the Velykopysarivska community, a man was killed when he stepped on an enemy landmine. In the Berezivska community, a 76-year-old man was injured when a drone struck a car.

In a number of other communities, private homes, a bus, a tractor, television equipment, an educational institution, vehicles and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Oleg Grigorov, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that in the morning an enemy drone struck a civilian car in the Stepanivska community. The car caught fire; the driver was not inside. The man was injured and has been hospitalised.

Kherson region

In the Kherson region, Russian troops shelled 37 settlements over the past 24 hours.

According to the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, 12 people were injured.

Five high-rise buildings, 16 private houses, a shop, a farm building, a warehouse and private cars were damaged.

Donetsk region

In the Donetsk region on 6 May, three people were killed and six others were injured as a result of Russian attacks.

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, reported that two people were killed in Druzhkivka and one in Shabelkivka.

Three people were injured in Kramatorsk. One person was also injured in each of Dobropillia, Lyman and Sloviansk.
