Marseille is gearing up to welcome Ukrainian cinema: on 3 and 4 April, the Cité des Associations community centre will host the Franco-Ukrainian Young Cinema Festival ‘MICT 2026’. The main aim of the event is to support talented young people and promote Ukrainian culture in Europe

The State Film Agency has announced this cultural event.

The festival programme promises to be rich and varied. In addition to the screenings themselves, visitors can look forward to meetings with filmmakers and public discussions. The organisers emphasise that ‘MICT 2026’ is set to become a platform for professional dialogue and the strengthening of international cooperation in the film industry between Ukraine and France.

The festival’s opening on 3 April is dedicated to a classic — audiences will be treated to the film “Such a Late, Such a Warm Autumn” by legendary director Ivan Mykolaychuk. The following day, 4 April, will focus on the contemporary context. The programme includes screenings of Lyubomyr Levytskyi’s documentary drama “We Were Recruits”, which tells the story of Ukrainian soldiers, and Denys Tarasov’s feature film “God’s Will”, which explores the theme of Soviet punitive psychiatry.

Events like this in Europe are not just about art, but also about the opportunity to remind the world of our identity and struggle through the language of the big screen. The festival in Marseille will serve as yet another important bridge between Ukrainian artists and a European audience
