Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that this summer will be decisive for Russia’s next moves in the war. He also highlighted the capabilities of Ukrainian drones in the context of the 9 May parade in Moscow.

At the opening of the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that it was necessary to maintain pressure on Russia and encourage it to seek diplomatic solutions. He emphasised that the idea of lifting sanctions was unacceptable.

The President noted that this summer will be the moment when Vladimir Putin decides whether to continue the war against Ukraine or to shift towards diplomacy.

Zelenskyy drew attention to the preparations for the 9 May parade in Moscow. According to him, there may be no military equipment on display, which would be the first such instance in many years, should this be confirmed.

“Russia has announced a parade on 9 May, but there will be no military equipment at this parade. If this is indeed the case, it will be the first time in many, many years that they cannot afford to have weapons on display at the parade. And Ukrainian drones may also fly over this parade. This shows that they are no longer as strong as they used to be. We must continue to put pressure on them, to keep the sanctions on them,” he said.

The President thanked European partners for adopting the 20th package of sanctions, as well as those who are countering Russia’s shadow oil fleet.

He stressed that support for Ukraine must continue for as long as the war lasts.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with Bloomberg that Russia might offer the West the lifting of sanctions against certain companies in exchange for a ceasefire.
