"Ukrnafta" is to build a new gas-fired combined heat and power plant with the support of the EBRD
This has been reported by the press office of ‘Ukrnafta’.
The project is being implemented as part of the ‘Ukrnafta II’ initiative.
The plant will operate using combined cycle technology. It will generate electricity, provide district heating and supply process steam for the needs of the local community, as well as perform market balancing functions.
Construction will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, it is planned to install open-cycle gas turbines, three of which the company has already received through a Siemens donor programme.
In the second phase, heat recovery boilers, steam turbines and transformers will be installed to transform the plant into a more efficient facility.
The company is currently conducting a second round of market consultations with potential manufacturers and suppliers. This will enable it to formulate an optimal procurement strategy, which will be carried out in accordance with EBRD rules. The process of securing additional funding to purchase the remaining necessary equipment is ongoing; this will subsequently be included in a single contract for design and construction.
As a reminder, in May 2026, Ukrnafta topped the ranking of the largest fuel retailers.
