Ukrzaliznytsia is deploying over 800 modular shelters across the country in response to the increasing number of attacks on railway infrastructure. One such shelter in the Kharkiv region has already saved the life of a train conductor following an attack by an enemy drone.

This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

Ukrzaliznytsia is stepping up protection for its staff due to an increase in attacks on the railway.

The company is rolling out a network of mobile shelters across the country. In total, they plan to install over 800 such structures.

The modular shelters are being manufactured in-house at Ukrzaliznytsia’s facilities.

They are being installed first and foremost in the most dangerous locations – near critical infrastructure that ensures train operations, as well as at stations where there are no permanent shelters.

According to the company, these shelters allow people to take cover quickly during an air raid alert and protect them from debris during shelling.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that one such shelter has already saved the life of a female employee in the Kharkiv region. The conductor evacuated to it in time after receiving a warning of danger.

The carriage was subsequently completely destroyed by an enemy drone.

Ukrzaliznytsia emphasises that the deployment of modular shelters is part of the company’s Resilience Plan. The aim of the initiative is to ensure the continuous movement of trains even in difficult conditions and to protect people as much as possible.

According to the company, around 983 attacks on railway infrastructure have been recorded since the start of the year.

As reported by ThePublic, Ukrzaliznytsia is to receive €54 million from the EBRD: where will the money go?
