An 18-year-old Ukrainian student was found hanged in Italy
Italian publications La Stampa and ANSA.
Maria Bughaiova was staying in the Mediterranean tourist village in the southern Italian region of Apulia as part of a European project with Comenius University in Bratislava.

Maria was found hanging from a tree in a rural area. Her mother has already been informed of her daughter's death and is on her way to Italy. She disappeared last Friday, July 4. Her phone, passport, and a sheet with several mobile numbers were found in her hotel room. Shortly before her disappearance, she transferred a certain amount of money to her brother.
Initially, Italian law enforcement believed that Bughaiova decided to run away on her own because shortly before her disappearance, she learned that her internship in Italy would end on July 6 without the possibility of extension – while many other students stayed until September.
The Ukrainian was also recorded by surveillance cameras near her internship location. The footage shows Bughaiova heading to the beach, after which her traces disappear.
The management of the facility reported her disappearance on the morning of July 5. Bughaiova was described as a "quiet girl" who was interested in an internship in Italy.
