In Odessa, a doctor will be tried for the death of a cadet after a medical injection
In Odessa, an indictment was sent to court against an infectious disease doctor whose actions, according to the investigation, led to the death of an 18-year-old cadet. This was reported by the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to law enforcement officials, in January 2024, a cadet from one of the educational institutions went to the medical centre with an acute respiratory illness. He was sent to an infectious diseases hospital, where he informed the doctor about his allergy to certain antibiotics and a hormonal drug.
However, as noted by the prosecutor's office, the doctor did not properly perform his professional duties — he did not record the information about the allergy in the medical records and referred the patient for further treatment. Subsequently, a nurse administered the prescribed drugs, which caused anaphylactic shock due to an allergic reaction. The cadet could not be saved.
After the patient's death, according to the investigation, the doctor entered false information into the medical record, stating that the young man had no allergic reactions, in an attempt to conceal his own negligence.
The criminal case has now been referred to the court for consideration on its merits.
