During a special operation in the Odesa region, law enforcement officers shot and killed a man who opened fire on patrol officers. He refused to surrender and fired at KORD officers.

A 45-year-old resident of Odessa was wanted for breaching military registration regulations. During a document check, he opened fire on police officers with an automatic weapon and fled in a car.

A special police operation was launched in the region to apprehend him. Within a few hours, law enforcement officers had located the man. He was hiding in an unfinished building.

During negotiations with the police, the man refused to cooperate and began firing at officers from the third floor. In response, members of the KORD unit returned fire.

As a result, the gunman was killed. Law enforcement officers state that the use of force was necessary to stop the threat to life.

An investigative team is working at the scene. The State Bureau of Investigations and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have been informed of the incident.
