Russia has reported a drone attack on a fuel and energy facility in the Ulyanovsk Region
On the night of 23 July, residents of the Ulyanovsk Oblast reported explosions. The region’s governor, Alexei Rusikh, stated that drones had attacked a facility belonging to the fuel and energy complex in the Novospassky District, resulting in a fire.
Following an analysis of video footage released by eyewitnesses, the ASTRA Telegram channel concluded that the ‘NS Oil’ oil refinery in the village of Novospasskoye had been attacked.
According to publicly available information, NS Oil CJSC is a small oil refinery that receives, prepares and refines crude oil to produce light and heavy petroleum products. The plant’s total production capacity is around 30,000 tonnes of crude oil per year.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, stated that the night-time drone attack had resulted in casualties and “serious consequences” in the region, though he did not provide any further details.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels also reported strikes on the temporarily occupied cities of Luhansk, Yalta and Feodosia. According to their assessments, power substations may have been hit. There is no official confirmation of this information.
Sergey Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of occupied Crimea, stated that one person had been killed and four others injured, including two children, as a result of the overnight strikes on the peninsula.
