A U.S. citizen who has been hiding from justice for over 30 years has been detained in Ukraine.
An American who committed sexual crimes against children has been hiding in Ukraine for over 30 years.

On the territory of Kyiv region, a 66-year-old U.S. citizen was detained, who has been on international wanted list since 1992.

According to materials from American law enforcement agencies, the detainee, working as the director of a kindergarten in Pima County, Arizona, committed a series of sexual crimes against four children aged from 4 to 9 years old during 1984–1991. Before the verdict was issued by the Arizona State Supreme Court, he left the U.S. territory and evaded responsibility by using forged documents in the name of a Mexican citizen.

The location of the wanted person was established through the use of digital technologies, including analysis of data from open sources. In Ukraine, the man lived under false personal data in a private house in Kyiv region. After identifying the individual, law enforcement officers conducted a search and detained him at his actual place of residence.

Currently, prosecutors are preparing a petition to the court for the application of temporary detention to further decide on his extradition. According to information provided by the competent U.S. authorities, the detainee is charged under 15 articles of criminal law.
