Explosions near Zhytomyr occurred due to the manufacturing of explosive mixture, — National Police
The police announced suspicion against five people involved in the explosions in Zhytomyr region on July 2. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison, the police told Suspilne.

The investigation established that in the village of Berezina more than four tons of explosive substances were detonated, which were manufactured illegally. The production was organized by a 60-year-old resident of Sumy region along with four accomplices.

Due to violations of rules and norms during the manufacturing and storage of explosive substances, a fire broke out in the premises, leading to detonation and subsequent explosions with a total power of over four tons in TNT equivalent.

As a result of the explosions, two people died, and 83 others were injured. The damages amounted to over 46 million hryvnias.
