WhatsApp has begun rolling out a major update, which will see the messaging app gain AI-generated replies, new photo editing tools, memory-clearing features, and additional functions for transferring chats and managing accounts.

This has been reported by TechCrunch.

The main new feature is the enhanced Writing Help function. Whereas previously it helped users rewrite messages, correct mistakes or adjust the tone, it can now generate a ready-made reply based on the context of the conversation. Meta emphasises that this feature uses Private Processing, and the chats themselves remain private.

WhatsApp is also introducing new tools for working with photos. Thanks to Meta AI, users can edit images directly within the chat, including removing unwanted objects, changing the background and applying various styles.

The update also affects storage management. WhatsApp is adding the ability to selectively clear storage, for example, deleting only large media files without deleting text messages.

What other features are being added to the messenger

Meta has also announced an expansion of WhatsApp’s core functionality. Among the new features are the ability to transfer chat history between different operating systems, the use of two accounts on a single iPhone, and sticker suggestions when typing emojis.

The company stated that all these features have already begun to be rolled out and should become available to all users in the near future.

As a reminder, a new security warning is coming to Telegram: users will be able to see if their contact is communicating via an ‘unofficial’ client. The warning will be displayed directly in that user’s profile.
