Actress Tatyana Pletnyova has died in Russia at the age of 49. She was best known for her supporting roles in numerous local TV series, such as *Interns* and *Real Guys*, and for her active support of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The cause of death was cancer – according to reports in the Russian media, she had been diagnosed with liver cancer.

The news of the actress’s death was announced by her friend, the director Marat Nikitin, who paid tribute to his colleague on social media. In particular, Russian media began to praise her after her death for her prolific career – during her lifetime she appeared in more than 200 projects, although she mostly played supporting and minor roles.

In the final months of her life, Pletnyova battled a serious illness, lost a great deal of weight and was rarely seen in public. According to Rosmedia, doctors diagnosed her with liver cancer, which proved fatal.

However, Ukrainians remember Pletnyova not for her creative achievements. Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in March 2022, she openly supported the Kremlin’s aggression, using the letters Z and V – symbols of the Russian occupying army – in her posts.

At the time, the actress publicly wrote “ZdraVstVuyte!”, demonstrating her loyalty to a regime that brings death and destruction to Ukrainians on a daily basis.

Pletnyova herself loved to talk about her ambitions to become a “cult figure of world cinema”, even if only posthumously. However, global recognition never materialised, and her career remained largely confined to Russian TV series and occasional appearances on screen.
